Process of custom designed robots

The Kannamachi dinosaur Center was renewal opened in March, 2003 after a wide-scale makeover based on the “Educational Project” designed objectives improving educational interactivities. Kokoro Ltd was involved with this project in the stage of planning and assisted with overall implementations of exhibition products for the robot theater, innovation of the captions and description panels, and publication of the guidebooks. Here are a few examples of how Kokoro Ltd. worked with the center researchers, the editorial supervisors, and the town office employees to carry out the project.

1.Planning

Had numbers of meetings to discuss details of planning and mutual understandings for the project with a whole community involved. Provided ideas of items to makeover and exhibition details best suit to the site environment and the project budget.

2.Determination of the exhibition puroducts specification

The main outline of the project theme and summary was set up followed by the specification of the description details. Kokoro Ltd polished the exhibition content academically accurate and impressive for entertainment as well with instructions from the editorial supervisors. This was how the fifteen minute-long scenario and description plan, maquette for exhibition verification, and content details were determined.

3.Products for exhibition

Large and small animatronics dinosaurs were produced to consist the theater. Each animatronics dinosaurs were made with pinpoint precision one by one to describe the poses and movements based on the design specification. As the large-scale stage equipment were coming to forms, animatronics dinosaurs were temporary assembled for complex movement adjustments.

4.Unique exhibition products

"Saurusu-Kun" characterized for the Dinosaur Center was introduced for the "Live Theater". Kokoro Ltd was able to add affection and originality to the exhibition by incorporating the facility character. The doctor Hakase, the storyteller, was produced to impersonate Dr. Ikuo Obata, one of the project editors.

5.Site Work

Exhibitions produced at the Kokoro factory once de-assembled to transport to the site. The track system and large-scale stage equipment were the first to set up carefully followed by the installation and precise adjustment of all the items to consist the theater such as the animatronics dinosaurs and equipment, lightings, image pictures and audio equipment.

6.Theater Completion

The “Live Theater, Dinosaurs coming alive”, dynamic robot theater with overwhelming animatronics dinosaurs and full of illusions created by astonishing stage equipment was completed. Enjoy this fifteen minute-long spectacular adventure produced by dinosaurs one after another, Hakase, the humanoid robot, Saurusu-Kun, and collaboration of explanation and drama projected onto the large screen for visualizing information.

7.General exhibition planning

Kokoro Ltd also contributes to the implementation of description panels and captions, signs, and guidebook publications for general renewal exhibitions with concepts.
